Just retired, Raphaël Varane is already making his return to the world of football. Como 1907 – where the Frenchman played just one match before retiring – announced the integration of the former Real Madrid player into its board. A return to business faster than expected for the former French international (93 caps, 5 goals) who announced he wanted to take a break from football.

The Como communiqué of 1907:

*“Raphaël Varane joins Côme 1907 as a board member, advising on youth development, education and product innovation.

Côme 1907 is pleased to announce the appointment of Raphaël Varane as a member of the board of directors. Recently retired from professional football, Varane will bring his experience and leadership to this new role, marking the next chapter of his career off the field.

Varane will collaborate with Osian Roberts, Côme 1907 Development Manager, and Juliette Bolon, Education Program Manager, to support the club’s youth development efforts. His commitment will not only benefit players, but also the wider community through educational initiatives. By integrating academic, professional and leadership training into youth programs, Varane aims to help young athletes prepare for life beyond football.

In addition to focusing on youth and education, Varane will advise Como 1907 on its product development strategy, integrating technology and innovation. From enhancing digital solutions to improving data analytics platforms and ticketing systems, Varane’s input will help guide Como 1907 in evolving its approach to fan engagement and improvements operational.”*
