Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is in contention to win the Premier League’s Player of the Month award following a record-breaking month for the 21-year-old.
Hojlund is one of seven players listed for the award in February and he is competing against Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Man City’s Phil Foden, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, Brighton’s Pascal Gross and Wolves’ Joao Gomes.
The Denmark international scored five goals during the month to extend his ongoing top-flight scoring run to six straight games. Hojlund will look to continue that streak when he returns from injury to beat Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record.
The young Dane became the youngest player to register in 6 consecutive Premier League fixtures when he bagged a brace against Luton Town.
Hojlund’s five goals have great variety too. The first came against Wolves in our 4-3 win when he tucked the ball home from a Luke Shaw cross. He also terrified West Ham’s defenders when he netted the first of three against the Hammers.
Like a fox in the box, Hojlund converted from Harry Maguire’s knockdown at Aston Villa.
United missed Hojlund due to injury at the weekend when our unbeaten run came to an end against Fulham. His presence up top was missed again in last night’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth-round.
