The prospect of working with Ruud van Nistelrooy would excite any striker. Rasmus Hojlund is no different as he plans to bring goals to a Manchester United side guilty of wasting too many chances, after missing the start of the season due to injury.

According to GiveMeSport, Hojlund has told friends Van Nistelrooy’s arrival is a huge movement in the development of his career at the club.

The Denmark international enjoyed a promising debut season at United, but a campaign that needs to be built on this season as expectations rise with experience.

It bodes well that United are finally keeping clean sheets and creating chances. Hojlund’s return as a substitute over the weekend was welcome, but he will need a few games to reach peak match sharpness.

Van Nistelrooy returned to United after 18 years in July to become an assistant for Erik ten Hag. A decision which came part of a major coaching reshuffle, spearheaded by INEOS.

The former Netherlands international is one of the greatest centre-forwards to have played for United, leaving the club for Real Madrid in 2006 after making more than 200 appearances.
