Earlier this month, actress Raveena Tandon was in the headlines after a group of women claimed she and her driver assaulted them with her car outside her Bandra residence. While police investigation began, a video surfaced online of the actress being attacked by the alleged victims and Tandon begging them not to hit her and the driver. In their statement, they claimed the actress was drunk and video of the same soon began circulation online.

Police, after checking CCTV footage, clarified that Raveena’s car didn’t hit anyone during the incident. It also claimed she wasn’t drunk during the ordeal. Now, the actress has issued a defamation case against a social media user, claiming to be a freelance journalist for tweaking and circulation a video alleging she was drunk during the road rage incident.

Raveena Tandon issues Rs 100 crore defamation notice

As reported by News18, Raveena Tandon has issued a defamation notice to Mohsin Shaikh and has demanded Rs 100 crore in damages. Shaikh is the individual reportedly responsible for tweaking a video showing her being heckled by a mob during the recent road rage incident. The same video also falsely accused the actress of being drunk during the incident. The video quickly went viral on social media, prompting Raveena’s legal team to take action against him for spreading defamatory content. A report also states the man in question was requested to pull down the defamatory video, but he refused.

Tandon’s lawyer on defamation notice

Talking about the defamation notice, Lawyer Sana Raees Khan, who is representing Raveena Tandon, told India Today, “Recently, an attempt was made to embroil Raveena in a false and frivolous complaint which was clarified in CCTV footage and no complaint was filed. However, recently, a person – claiming to be a journalist, is disseminating false information on X regarding the said incident, which is factually incorrect and misleading.”

She continued, “This dissemination of false news appears to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish Raveena’s reputation for ulterior motives. The intent behind continuously spreading these falsehoods seems to be rooted in extortion and a desire to gain cheap publicity at the expense of Raveena’s dignity. We are currently taking all necessary legal steps to address this issue and ensure that justice is served and action is taken against him for perpetuating this defamatory campaign.”
