The appointment of Umar Abdullahi Umar, son of Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Executive Director of Technical Services of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has sparked various reactions.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Umar to the new REA management team on Thursday, following the indefinite suspension of the agency’s previous leadership led by Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad. Ahmad and three other executive directors were suspended over allegations of financial misappropriation.
Umar, who previously contested for the APC ticket in the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency but lost the election, has been involved in political activities, particularly in the Tinubu/Shettima campaign, where he played a significant role in the youth wing.
The news of Ganduje’s son’s appointment to the REA management team has led to diverse reactions on social media, with many expressing their opinions on the matter.
