Real and Atlético Madrid back to back

Real Madrid and its neighbor Atlético challenged each other this Sunday evening in La Liga for the clash of the weekend.

The Battle of Madrid was quite disappointing. At least, in his first act. Creativity was not the strong point of the two teams during the first 45 minutes. Although the visitors generally dominated, the Merengue only had two shots on target from outside the area. Atlético locked down as often, only showing itself to be dangerous on the very first opportunity (9th) before multiplying the failures in the game.

The second half will finally see the opening of the scoring. Following a free kick following a foul by Le Normand, Modric fed Vinicius, who found his compatriot Miliato at the far post. The latter managed a half-volley from the right which beat Oblak. All this, shortly after the hour mark.

The rest will be less encouraging with a distressing spectacle in the stands. Objects, including lighters, were thrown towards the pitch and in particular towards Merengue goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. The match was stopped for a period of ten minutes. After the resumption of hostilities, a big opportunity from Samuel Lino was notably stopped by Courtois, without forgetting an opportunity from Antoine Griezmann.

But the Colchoneros were going to come back at the last minute in the match. Launched by Javi Galan’s long deep pass, Angel Correa dribbled past Courtois with success in his double-contact to equalize at the very end of the match. 1-1, final score. Real therefore does not win the battle of Madrid and does not benefit from Barça’s defeat on Saturday at Osasuna.
