Real-Barça, match canceled?

FC Barcelona will ask for the Clasico to be replayed if it turns out that VAR malfunctioned on Sunday evening in Madrid.

Clearly, he has not finished talking about this Clasico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona (3-2). More than the winning goal from Jude Bellingham, which sealed the fate of the match, it was the goal denied to Lamine Yamal which enraged the Catalans.

It is frankly difficult, given the images, to see whether the ball crossed the line or not, before Andriy Lunin stopped. This is typically the case where goal-line technology intervenes but La Liga, which offers each season the most followed championship match on the planet, did not see fit to equip itself with this tool. As a result, the referees in charge of VAR had to deal with images taken from an angle where it is impossible to have the slightest certainty.

Barça wants to replay the match

Faced with this dubious process, Barça has decided to launch the counter-attack, and demands that all the images and all the soundtracks (of the discussions between the referees and the VAR) be studied by the technical refereeing commission of the Spanish Football Federation.

“If, once this documentation has been analyzed, the club understands that an error was made in the review of the incident, we will take all available measures to reverse the situation, without ruling out, of course, any necessary legal action, promises President Joan Laporta, who would be ready to strike hard by asking for Sunday’s Clasico to be canceled and played again. We are not ruling out asking for the match to be replayed, as happened in another match in Europe due to a VAR error. »
