Next season, Kylian Mbappé will play for Real Madrid. Former glory of the Madrid club, Iván Helguera (48 years old) rejoiced, in the columns ofA.S., of the upcoming arrival of the French striker at his former club. The former defender, who played 346 games at the White House, says he prefers Kylian Mbappé to Erling Haaland: “I think Mbappé is more valid for Madrid. He can play on the wing, as a center forward and even as a midfielder if you want. Not Haaland. He’s a center forward and that’s it. Mbappé adapts more easily due to the way he plays, dribbling, he shows himself much more without the ball, to create a wall, if you have to play outside the area with him…” The Spaniard also focused on the defensive role that the French striker will have to play: “what must be managed well is balance and above all physical effort, both in attack and defense. I mean if Mbappé comes, they shouldn’t dedicate themselves less to defense. Ultimately, wingers must fulfill their defensive function. Mbappé will surely have to do it too”.

With Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid is preparing to experience a new galactic era. Iván Helguera experienced the first era of the Galacticos, with Luís Figo (2000), Zinedine Zidane (2001), Ronaldo (2002) and David Beckham (2003). For him, it is superior to that which will arrive in the coming months in the Madrid capital: “It is true that there are Galactics today, but there are not as many as there were then. There is nothing to see. Now they have a lot of players with more physical strength and who work very hard. That doesn’t mean that they didn’t work at that time, but that we focused a lot on the attack. It wasn’t as complete and balanced a team as this one.”.
