A mixed start for Real Madrid in La Liga. This Sunday, the Madrid club conceded a draw on the pitch of Mallorca in the framework of the first day of the championship (1-1).
A disappointing result when everything had started well with Rodrygo opening the scoring at the start of the match (1-0, 13th minute).
But after the break, Kylian Mbappé’s teammates were unable to maintain their lead on the scoreboard and were caught before the hour mark by a goal from Vedat Muriqi (1-1, 53rd).
After the match, in a press conference, Carlo Ancelotti did not hide his anger at the performance of his team which according to him did not manage the balance on the pitch well.
” It wasn’t a good game, we need to have more balance on the pitch. We need to defend better. Last year I was happy with a few draws, today it’s not the case. We needed to do much better. I don’t want to make excuses. We needed more attitude. We could have lost. We can learn a lot from this game because it seems clear where we could have problems. We are an offensive team and balance is fundamental,” he said sharply to journalists.
Before continuing: “CEveryone has their own opinion about the substitutions, maybe they were made too late or not. Rotations? I can do that when the Champions League starts. The defensive aspect was not good and it was difficult for us to put pressure after losing the ball. It is a collective attitude and commitment. The team had problems because they were very open. We had to be more focused. It is a problem that is neither physical nor mental.
The message is sent and clear. There should be no doubt that there should be some changes in the starting 11 on the next day at the Bernabeu against Valladolid.
