Real Madrid: Arda Güler is tired of waiting…

This summer, Arda Güler has done everything he can to make his dream come true. Recruited by Real Madrid last season, the young 19-year-old Turk did not want to extend his summer vacation after the Euro played in Germany. On the contrary, Güler wants to impose himself at the Merengues and he has worked hard to do so. Returning more physically fit and motivated, the former Fenerbahçe player wanted to participate in Real Madrid’s tour of the United States to score points with Carlo Ancelotti.

A tactic that paid off. The feedback from the Madrid press was complimentary and the Italian coach confirmed these good impressions. He arrived very well, he worked a lot on vacation. He came back more powerful, more resistant and with the same quality. (…) This season will be important for him. His best position is between the lines, he can be a number 10, he can be a right winger… In the future, he could be one of the three midfielders.»

Real Madrid not panicking

Since then, Güler has had to learn to be patient. And that is not yet a given. A scene was also noted at the end of the European Super Cup won by Casa Blanca against Atalanta. After receiving his medal, Güler did not want to take part in the festivities and stayed away. The reason? The Turk refused to celebrate because he did not play a single minute of the match. A scene that did not escape Ancelotti, who came to whisper in his ear. This Tuesday, AS tells us that the situation has not particularly changed.

Having come on at the very end of the match against Mallorca (1-1, 3 minutes played) on the first day of La Liga, Güler started against Valladolid (3-0, 69 minutes played), before returning to the bench for the trip to Las Palmas (1-1, 27 minutes played). Against Betis (2-0), the Turk was once again a substitute and did not even come into play. Enough to annoy him. “Against Betis, he left unhappy: zero minutes and last midfielder in the hierarchy. His eclipse since Valladolid is worrying. Destabilized at the time of the international break”writes the Madrid newspaper.

Frustrated by seeing Luka Modrić and Dani Ceballos overtake him against Betis, Güler has played just 99 minutes in three matches (out of 270). After Sunday’s game, AS adds that he did not celebrate the victory with the rest of the team and that he left the Bernabéu pitch dejected. In the Real Madrid offices, there is no worry. While Güler’s impatience and frustration should surely not go unnoticed, the Merengues remain calm. The season is still long and it is worth remembering that the Casa Blanca could play a maximum of 72 matches. An overloaded schedule that should allow Arda Güler to show himself. All this without forgetting the many injured Madrid players in midfield.
