The Brazilian striker fuelled the debate after an offensive by Saudi Arabia earlier this week.

A wave of panic swept through the Spanish capital when several sources announced a Saudi offensive to secure the services of Vinicius JrThe news broke on Tuesday. Reuters reported that officials from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) had offered the Brazilian striker a gargantuan contract to sign in Saudi Arabia.

In total, a lease worth one billion euros has been put on the table to encourage Vinicius Jr to make the big jump this summer (a 5-year contract with an annual salary of 200 million euros to which various bonuses would be added). This contract would be the most lucrative in the history of sport.

Can Vinicius really leave Real Madrid?

In absolute terms, a departure of Vinicius Jr seems difficult to imagine. Already because the Brazilian dribbler has always proclaimed his attachment to Real Madrid, a club where he would like to “finish his career”. But also because Florentino Perez, the president of Real, would be categorically opposed to this move. The manager has absolutely no intention of placing his star on the transfer market.

The fact remains that Vinicius Jr’s clan threw a chill by letting it leak to the press that the Brazilian international was not indifferent to this offer. Reuters even states that the striker had authorized the Saudi Public Investment Fund to contact the management of Real Madrid. From there to imagining this European Super Cup final against Atalanta as Vinicius’ last appearance in the white jersey, there is only one step. Real fans do not imagine such a scenario.
