For his first match at the Santiago Bernabeu, and despite a stadium that was won over to his cause, Kylian Mbappé remained in the shadows. Starting at number 9 during Real Madrid’s victory against Valladolid (3-0), the French striker did not score. And like last weekend against Mallorca, he often gave the impression of searching for himself in the passing circuits, without really showing any technical affinity with his partners (which can be explained for a player who has just arrived). On the other hand, he had the opportunities, three or four times, but was never able to convert them.

Present at a press briefing after the match, his coach Carlo Ancelotti nevertheless said he was satisfied with his player’s match: “He’s a spectacular striker, very fast. He moved very well without the ball, he took the depth, and had 3 or 4 chances because he created them… He’s going to score like he always has.”said the Italian coach. Perhaps as early as Thursday, against Las Palmas.
