Since signing for Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé has logically been the center of attention. And while he is often talked about off the pitch in Spain, the question of his integration into the Madrid eleven also raises questions. How will the Frenchman cohabit with Vinicius Jr and how will Carlo Ancelotti position him on the front of the attack. In a podcast with former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel, the Italian coach gave some answers.
“If Kylian Mbappé is going to play on the left? I see him playing more on the front of the attack. And the front of the attack is quite wide. The pitch is 68 meters. Our attackers have to cover these 68 meters. It could be him or Vinicius Jr too. If you ask me where Vinicius has played this season, it’s hard to say. He hasn’t played as a left winger. I think the most important thing to have a good offensive animation is the mobility of our attackers. Sometimes, Mbappé can play on the left, sometimes in the center or sometimes on the right. Bellignham played on the left, he went in the center and on the right. Rodrygo, I started him on the right and sometimes, I found him on the left. The mobility and especially the creativity of our attacking players depending on where the ball is is important.”he said. Clearly, Kylian Mbappé will have to be mobile, much more so than at PSG.
