The best moments of the Spanish National team have always coincided with the peak of Barcelona, and it is no mere coincidence.

La Roja won the FIFA World Cup by fielding a team dominated by Catalan superstars such as Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta amongst others. After a hiatus, there is now another wave of La Masia stars exploding on the international stage.

Alejandro Balde, Ansu Fati, Gavi and Lamine Yamal are some of the names to have entered the senior international team’s roster at an early age in recent times. The latest entrant of them all is Pau Cubarsi.

Real Madrid puzzled

As revealed in a recent update via Diario SPORT, the offices of Real Madrid are puzzled by the teenage sensation’s call-up to the national team at such a tender age.

‘These things happen only with Barça,’ they say about Cubarsi’s call-up for the team’s friendlies against Colombia and Brazil.

This is not the first time the men in white have made a fuss about Barcelona players being called up.

Gavi has repeatedly been targeted by their fanbase even on international duty, while they also released false campaigns about Lamine Yamal insulting the Spanish National Team to suit their cause.

Mature beyond his years

Despite being just 17 years of age, Cubarsi’s arrival on the scene has provided Barcelona with more reinforcement at the back. He has taken over Inigo Martinez’s place in the starting lineup through pure merit and is currently undroppable.

In the team’s recent clash against Napoli, Cubarsi was elected the man-of-the-match for his mature performance that kept one of the best strikers in Europe, Victor Osimhen, silent for 90 minutes.

As Barcelona head into another critical clash against Atletico Madrid, he is likely to keep hold of his place in the XI. A debut for Spain in his maiden call-up is not impossible.
