Real Madrid: end of season for Éder Militão

A Pyrrhic victory. If Real Madrid largely won against Osasuna this Saturday (4-0), notably thanks to a great Vinicius Jr, author of a hat-trick, the main thing lies elsewhere this evening. In less than 20 minutes, the Merengue club lost three players to injury, namely Rodrygo, hit in the thigh, Éder Militão, in the knee and taken out on a stretcher, and finally Lucas Vazquez, visibly injured in the adductor. The worst was especially to be feared for the second, and the bad news was confirmed.

Following the meeting, Éder Militão took examinations which did not prove reassuring. As Real Madrid indicated in its press release, the Brazilian is suffering from a rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his right knee, which is already putting an end to his season, as for Carvajal. Note that this is not a first for the 26-year-old defender, who had already suffered the same injury in August 2023, before being sidelined until March.

Rüdiger only central defender available

“After the examinations carried out today on our player Eder Militão by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament with damage to both menisci of his right leg. Militão will be operated on in the coming days”indicates the Real Madrid press release. Terrible news, which should therefore force the club to review its copy this winter.

Usually not very active during the winter breaks, Real Madrid today finds itself at an impasse: David Alaba is still injured, the young Joan Martínez, bluffing during preparation, also suffers from a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the knee , while Jesus Vallejo, 11 minutes of play this season, still does not seem to fit into Ancelotti’s plans. A combination of events which makes Rüdiger the only professional central defender still available. We imagine that Aurélien Tchouameni could be responsible for acting as interim manager upon his return, but in the meantime, the Frenchman is also injured. Perhaps it’s time for Raul Asencio, decisive passer for his first professional match today.
