Real Madrid faces ultimatum

After missing out on Leny Yoro this week, Real Madrid could now focus more on Alphonso Davies.

The Spaniards have long admired the Bayern Munich defender, who they want to see become their long-term left-back at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Davies’ situation has turned into a saga in recent months. His contract expires in 2025 and negotiations to extend it have failed. Bayern remain determined to tie up his future, but they will not let that happen.

Davies in the crosshairs

This position was clearly expressed by Uli Hoeneß, honorary president of Bayern. He gave Davies an ultimatum (via Relevo).

“We told him very clearly that if he did not renew his contract, we would let it expire. He would not receive any more money.” The comments seem to indicate that Bayern will try to keep Davies this summer, and are willing to let him leave for free in 2025 if he does not extend his contract. Real Madrid would be happy with this outcome, as the Canadian international is not considered a priority for this summer transfer window.
