German international Toni Kroos admitted a refereeing error during the Leipzig-Real Madrid match in the Champions League.

RB Leipzig suffered a frustrating defeat against Real Madrid (0-1) on Tuesday evening in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. A match marked by the cancellation of a goal in the 2nd minute for a disputed offside position.

Benjamin Sesko’s goal was invalidated for an offside position by Benjamin Henrichs, which would have hampered Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. However, Toni Kroos, the Real Madrid midfielder, felt after the match that the goal should have been validated.

“I think that in the end, he calls an offside because he (Henrichs, editor’s note) is in the path (of Lunin, editor’s note) but the goalkeeper is far from the ball. This is why, yes, the goal should have been awarded,” judged the Madrid midfielder.
