Real Madrid have reportedly shortlisted Bayer Leverkusen starlet Jeremie Frimpong ahead of the summer transfer window, as per TeamTalk.
Should the European giants opt to ignite their pursuit of the fullback, they could join Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool in the race for his signature.
On Sunday, Frimpong was crowned a Bundesliga champion as Leverkusen lifted the title for the first time in their history, doing so without losing a single game in the process. They remain in the DFB Pokal (final) and Europa League (quarter-finals), so could finish the term as record-making, invincible treble winners.
The 23-year-old has been pivotal throughout his side’s unprecedented form this campaign, having notched 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions while playing an integral role at the heart of Xabi Alonso’s exhilarating project.
Unfortunately for Alonso and the Leverkusen board, they’re braced for European interest in several of their standout performers this summer and may have their hands forced into sanctioning numerous exits.
Frimpong’s current terms contain a €40 million (£34m) release clause, which can only be activated before Euro 2024 kicks off in June.
