Real Madrid easily won (2-4) this Saturday at Osasuna, consolidating its large lead at the top of La Liga.

This Saturday afternoon, Real Madrid traveled to the Osasuna pitch, at the El Sadar stadium, for the 29th day of La Liga. Only moments after kick-off, Carlo Ancelotti’s men opened the scoring. Under pressure from Vinicius Junior, Alejandro Catena lost the ball. The Brazilian international recovered it and crossed his shot low to the ground, with his right foot (4th, 0-1). The locals reacted immediately, from a corner.

At the near post, Dani Carvajal deflected the ball with his head to the second to find Jorge Herrando. This crossed for Ante Budimir, who finished with his left foot, from close range (1-1, 7th). The “White House” regained the advantage on the scoreboard following a magnificent collective action. On the left side, Brahim Diaz attempted a ladle towards Federico Valverde. The latter crossed magnificently behind Carvajal, who scored with a shot from the outside of his right foot (1-2, 18th).

Hat-trick of assists for Valverde

The two teams started the second half with the same 22 players as at the start of the match. Just after the hour mark, the Madrilenians took the break. On a clearance from Lunin, Valverde deflected the ball with a header for Brahim Diaz. The Spanish-Moroccan sped down the middle at high speed and beat Unai Garcia with his right foot (1-3, 61st). In the process, Vinicius increased the score. Served by Valverde, the Auriverde international managed to score from outside the right, from a tight angle (1-4, 64th). In stoppage time, Iker Munoz reduced the score (2-4, 90th+1).

Thanks to this big victory, Real Madrid consolidates its lead at the top of the Spanish championship. With 72 points, the Merengue are ten points ahead of Girone, who travel to Getafe this Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. On the next day of La Liga, which will be played after the international break, Carlo Ancelotti’s men will host Athletic Bilbao on March 31.
