Videos have emerged on social media showing the 17-year-old being insulted by Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu during the 4-0 defeat. Now, the Merengues declare that they are investigating this matter and condemn any form of racism, xenophobia or violence in football.
The Real Madrid press release states: “ Real Madrid strongly condemns any type of behavior involving racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults uttered last night by some supporters in one of the corners of the stadium. “Real Madrid has opened an investigation to locate and identify the perpetrators of these deplorable and despicable insults so that appropriate disciplinary and legal measures can be taken.”
Real condemns
Yamal scored in Real’s rout, putting his Barcelona side six points clear of their bitter rival and staying top of La Liga. They also ended Carlo Ancelotti’s side’s 42-game unbeaten run in La Liga and are now hot favorites to win the league title.
While the Madrid investigation is underway to find the culprits, Yamal’s Barcelona team host Espanyol in their next La Liga match on Sunday, November 3.
