The Deloitte Football Money League is in its 27th year of analyzing the highest revenue-generating football clubs in the world, and has reported that these clubs earned a record €10.5 billion for the 2022 season. -23, an increase of 14% compared to the previous year.
PSG makes a comeback
The Madrilenians, who topped the index five years ago, recorded a record figure of 831 million euros for last season, 118 million euros more than the previous year. City earned 5 million euros less than Madrid and are in second place, with the top five places occupied by Paris Saint-Germain (802 million euros), Barcelona (800 million euros) and Manchester United ( 746 million euros).
The rise of PSG and Barça into the top 5 shows that European clubs are “regaining ground” on the Premier League, according to Deloitte, although Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all in the top 10. Liverpool were the biggest loser on the list, falling from third to seventh place, due to a decline in results in domestic and European competitions. Newcastle and West Ham United are 17th and 18th respectively, ahead of reigning Serie A champions Napoli.
