Real Madrid will invest a modest sum to ensure good competition for Mbappé.

While Jude Bellingham has stolen the show at Real Madrid during the 2023-24 season, having won the Ballon d’Or for much of the campaign, he is considered the club’s rookie of the season.

Bellingham has 20 goals in 29 matches, but Joselu Mato isn’t far behind him. He scored 14 goals in 35 matches, although he was often a substitute. The 33-year-old was the only striker signed by Real Madrid last summer, a move which raised many questions at the time.

Real Madrid buys a competitor in Mbappé

Although he did not reach the level of Karim Benzema, his predecessor, of years past, he turned out to be a magnificent piece of business. According to Diario AS, Real Madrid intend to use the release clause of 1.5 million euros provided for in the loan agreement concluded with Espanyol.

This would mean that Joselu remains at Real Madrid in the future, where he would serve as an understudy to Kylian Mbappé (and also Endrick Felipe), whose arrival at the club is finally expected for the summer. He has shown that he is more than reliable when counted on, and at this price Los Blancos really can’t go wrong.
