The absence of Real Madrid during the last Ballon d’Or ceremony continues to fuel debate.

The days have passed but the controversy is still present. Majorly absent from the France Football Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Monday evening, in Paris, on real Madrid is castigated by many football players for its lack of fair play.

If several observers have pointed out the inelegance of a club accustomed to winning everything, it was a player from the rival club, Pau Cubarsi, who added another layer this Thursday. For the young central defender of Barça, Real Madrid and its players should have gone to Paris.

Real Madrid back in place

“It’s important for a football player to be in the rankings, explained the player trained at Masia on RAC 1 radio. Being in the top 10 or top 20 of the Ballon d’Or is already a good prize and it is important for a footballer to be there. Dani Olmo and I were there without winning anything.”

A dry and fairly clear tackle, although Cubarsi is careful not to list names. As a reminder, the defender finished in 5th place in the Kopa Trophy rankings rewarding the best young people of the year on the planet. A distinction won by Lamine Yamal, his teammate at Barcelona.
