Sanctions continue to fall in Spain against the perpetrators of racist acts. This time, it is the turn of the minor spectator who attacked Vinicius Junior to be caught by the courts. Real Madrid announces that the young man who uttered racist insults against the Brazilian has been sentenced to a fine and community service.
“Real Madrid CF informs that the minor who uttered racist insults against our player Vinicius Júnior at the Vallecas stadium, during the match between Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid on February 18, 2024, apologized and expressed regret for his behavior in a letter of apology addressed to Vinicius Júnior. As a result of the extrajudicial agreement concluded, he agreed to carry out the socio-educational activities that were offered to him by the juvenile prosecutor’s office, as well as not to enter the stadiums where official competitions take place for a period of one year. In addition, he must pay the financial penalty imposed on him for his behavior by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport. Since last June, four legal proceedings, either before a criminal court or before a juvenile court, have ended with sanctions for the perpetrators of intolerable racist acts committed against Real Madrid players in different stadiums, forums and social networks. Real Madrid, which, together with its players, has acted as a civil party in these proceedings and is currently pursuing others, will continue to work to protect the values of our club and to eradicate any racist behavior in the world of football and sports“.
