Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race to sign Bayern Munich’s Matthijs De Ligt.
That’s according to a recent report from Defensa Central (via Fichajes), who claim the La Liga giants are looking to bolster their defence ahead of next season and have identified De Ligt as an attainable target.
Los Blancos aren’t alone in their pursuit though. Premier League giants Manchester United are also credited with having a strong interest in the 24-year-old.

Considered a long-time target, De Ligt has been on the Red Devils’ radar for several seasons, and, now with Erik Ten Hag at the helm; the man who awarded the defender 70 appearances while together at Ajax, there is hope United can finally land their man.
De Ligt is viewed as a realistic target after falling down Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order but Real Madrid’s emergence is certain to throw a spanner in the works.
The two European powerhouses are expected to go head-to-head for the former Juventus star in the summer — which one will come out on top remains to be seen though.
