Both Real Madrid and Man City are well placed for a title tilt in their domestic leagues with a third of their games left to play, and also hold the advantage going into the second legs of the Champions League Round of 16.

For any player looking to move this summer, either club would represent an attractive proposition.

Given that it’s unlikely that both Los Blancos and the Cityzens would be looking at a fire sale, that would mean the odd studious buy here or there for specific positions.

Kyle Walker and Dani Carvajal are world class exponents in the right-back position for their respective employers, however, neither are getting any younger.

Walker will be 34 by the time the 2024/25 campaign gets underway, and Carvajal will be 33 midway through next season.

It’s perhaps with that in mind that both clubs are apparently targeting the services of a former marauding Real Madrid right-back.

According to various reports cited by Fichajes, the pair of European giants are targeting 25-year-old Achraf Hakimi this summer.

Achraf Hakimi to Manchester United?

The Moroccan international who currently plies his trade with Paris Saint-Germain, played at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2017-2020, but also spent the vast majority of his youth career at Real.

Not forgetting he was born in Madrid too.

However, with the club looking to acquire Hakimi’s current club colleague, Kylian Mbappe, this summer too, their funds might be stretched, thus allowing Man City free reign for a player whose demands they could easily meet.
