Real Sociedad – PSG: police prevent armed brawl between supporters

This evening Paris Saint-Germain travels to the Basque Country to face Real Sociedad. Building on its 2-0 victory in the first leg, the Ile-de-France club of course intends to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League. On the sidelines of this summit meeting, much less pleasant clashes almost took place. Indeed, many dangerous objects such as iron bars, golf clubs, knives, hammers, brass knuckles and even screwdrivers have been seized from supporters’ vehicles according to local media. The Basque police have identified around fifty people at risk on the Real Sociedad side and around a hundred among Parisian supporters. The dangerous objects were seized while an important security system was put in place. Besides, RMC Sport explains for its part that a double-decker bus belonging to Parisian supporters was refused entry into Spanish territory and was forced to turn around.
