Manchester United striker Joe Hugill has enjoyed a terrific start to life at Burton Albion after joining the struggling League One outfit earlier this month.

The Reds decided to let Hugill leave on loan to get his first taste of senior football in the Football League.

In the first team, however, Erik ten Hag could do with additions to his attacking department.

Rasmus Hojlund, 20, was signed for big money last summer and is still finding his feet in the Premier League.

The former Atalanta striker needs a better support option than Anthony Martial as it looks like the Frenchman’s days are numbered at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Hugill has made an instant impact at Burton Albion after scoring on his debut.

The young striker got his first start for Burton over the weekend and grabbed an assist for his new side in their 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic. After picking up three points from the game, Burton are now 15th in League One.

Hugill’s performances have been praised by Steve Bruce’s son and former Premier League defender Alex Bruce, who told MUTV (via United In Focus): “I saw the goal, it was a great goal. He had a lot of time to think about what he was going to do with it as well.

“One on one, he’s burst through from the halfway line, he’s got to the ‘keeper and slotted it away. It was a really good goal he showed good pace to get away from the defender and a great start for him, exactly what you would want from young players going away on loan. Let’s hope it’s the start of him having a good spell.”
