Baron Corbin, known for his tenacity both inside and outside the ring, truly came into his own thanks to his NXT run last year. He was drafted to Friday Night SmackDown this year and has been absent for a few months now and the reason behind his extended hiatus from WWE television has been revealed.
Baron Corbin was called up to the main roster as part of this year’s WWE Draft and he is now part of Friday Night SmackDown. Baron Corbin was then paired with Apollo Crews, a partnership he initially wasn’t excited about but eventually grew to appreciate.
According to Fightful Select, WWE Creative hasn’t shown much interest in regularly featuring them on television. Since the July 19 episode of SmackDown, Corbin has been absent from televised matches, though it was confirmed he’s not injured and has been present at several SmackDown tapings. Recently, Corbin has been working dark matches alongside The O.C. and Los Garza.
”Originally, Baron Corbin wasn’t sold on the idea of being in a tag team with Apollo Crews, but he grew to like it. However, WWE creative hasn’t been keen on booking them, and two have worked several dark matches in recent months.”
We will have to wait and see when WWE will end up bringing back Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews to television, as fans feel they more than deserve a shot to show off their skills as a tag team.
Do you believe it’s simply unfortunate how WWE has not been booking Baron Corbin at all for months? Sound off in the comments section below!
