Pro wrestling companies have booked some impressive venues throughout the history of the business. The Sphere in Las Vegas, although it would provide an incredible visual for the setup, is simply not happening for any pro wrestling company at this point.

The Sphere in Las Vegas went viral thanks to its unique design and giant visuals. The venue opened their doors this year, but they haven’t booked a pro wrestling show. That is not likely to take place unless they change their price tag.

During a recent Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp addressed the possibility of WWE announcing a show at the Sphere, especially with UFC currently utilizing the venue. He mentioned that, as of right now, he hasn’t heard anything indicating that WWE has reached out about hosting an event there. After all, the price to book the Las Vegas tourist attraction is massive.

It’s a variety of things. The cost of running the venue itself is insanely expensive. Word was that the LED ball cost $450,000 a day itself, and running that actual venue could be north of $1 million. Unless the event and scenario made sense, it probably won’t end up being booked out by a wrestling company. UFC did over $20 million in gate this weekend, breaking their own record.

It was also noted that Tony Khan and AEW had inquired about it, though he couldn’t comment on the likelihood of them actually running a show at the Sphere. That being said, WWE hasn’t inquired about it.

“Sticking with the Sphere, I’ve heard nothing about WWE reaching out about it yet. I know Tony Khan and AEW reached out and inquired about it. I don’t know the reality of them actually ending up running a show there, though.”

With an operating cost of $450,000 per day, that certainly limits the kind of shows and companies that would be interested in such a venue. After all, it takes a lot to keep the Sphere going, with overall costs for the venue potentially exceeding $1 million.

While it’s unlikely that a wrestling promotion would consider booking the Sphere, you never know what can happen next. That being said, WWE already has Las Vegas locked down for WrestleMania 41 next year in Allegiant Stadium. Tickets for the show of shows next year can still be found on StubHub.

We will have to see what happens with the Sphere. They may have issues booking the venue, despite booking U2 concerts and renting out the LED screens for massive advertisements that take over the Las Vegas skyline. As for the price, it is simply not cost-effective to consider booking the building for a pro wrestling event.
