EXCLUSIVE: Rebecca De Mornay, Noah Emmerich, Kunal Nayyar and Sarah Bolger have joined the feature take of Howard Roughan legal thriller novel The Up and Comer.
The Up and Comer delves into the seemingly perfect life of Philip Randall (Nate Mann), a brilliant attorney poised to become the youngest partner at his prestigious firm. Philip’s idyllic world begins to unravel when a former prep-school classmate (Andrew Burnap) threatens to reveal a devastating secret involving another woman (Shay Mitchell). Suddenly caught in a high stakes game of blackmail, murder and revenge, Philip is forced to risk everything only to face the greatest danger of all – winning.
Chris Long is directing the movie in Chicago. Pic is produced by Jeremy Alter, Roughan, Gary B. Goldman, and Long. New York Times bestselling author Roughan adapted his his novel, with casting led by Sheila Jaffe and Bryan Riley.
Risky Business and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle actress De Mornay recently starred in the Bella Thorne and Ryan Phillippe thriller Saint Claire from producer Cassian Elwes which premiered at the Taormina Film Festival back in July. Up next is The Whisper Network for her which will premiere at the Heartland Film Festival this month. De Mornay is repped by Innovative Artists and Joanne Horowitz Management.
The Americans actor Noah Emmerich starred in the Netflix feature The Good Nurse opposite Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne last year. Additionally, he recently completed shooting the upcoming Apple TV+ series Big Cigar, opposite Andre Holland and directed by Don Cheadle. Emmerich stars in the AMC series Dark Winds and can also be seen in the Apple TV+ series Suspicion opposite Uma Thurman. Emmerich is repped by Gersh Agency and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Nayyar is best known for his role as Raj Koothrappali on CBS’s long running comedy series The Big Bang Theory. He can currently be seen as one of the leads in the AppleTV series Suspicion. He can also be seen in A Christmas Karma and the Netflix feature Spaceman. Nayyar is repped by Innovative Artists and Lovett Management.
Bolger recently wrapped the StudioCanal feature Control opposite James McAvoy and Julianne Moore. She can currently be seen starring in the French mini-series Rematch which is currently airing on ARTE in France, and set to be released on Disney+ in the U.K. and HBO in the rest of Europe early next year. Bolger previously wrapped shooting the independent feature Josiah Road for director Peter Ciella, and can next be seen opposite Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon in the indie feature Cry From the Sea. Bolger is repped by Mosaic, IAG, Accelerate, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
