Rebecca Minkoff believes she was never invited to the Met Gala because she once broke one of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s rules.

The “Real Housewives of New York” star admitted she made a “huge mistake” by walking into the same elevator as the fashion icon 15 years ago.

“That was the end of my relationship with Anna,” Minkoff said during Sunday’s episode of the “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast.

“You’re not allowed in the elevator with Anna. … I’ve been told that if she gets in the elevator, you can’t get in with her.”

Minkoff, 42, explained she was also with her co-star Jenna Lyons, who was able to ride in the same elevator as Wintour, 75, since they were hosting an event together.

The reality star admitted that she made matters worse by trying to spark up a conversation with the British magazine editor.

“I was like, ‘Hello, how is everyone feeling today?'” Minkoff recalled. “[Wintour] just looked down. It got silent, it was awkward. I was like, right, right I must’ve missed the memo somewhere.”

“I’m still overthinking it 15 years later,” Minkoff added. “Maybe that’s why I’ve never been invited to the Met Gala.”

Wintour reportedly oversees the guest list for the A-list event hosted annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Attendees must be personally invited and pay $75,000 for a ticket and $350,000 for an entire table, per Time magazine.

Those invited have to follow a dress code based on the gala’s theme. Vogue announced the 2025 theme will be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

What happens inside the star-studded event is unknown, as Vogue has a strict “no phone” policy inside the venue.

Some guests, however, have skirted the rules, with Doja Cat breaking the smoking ban at the 2023 gala.

The “Streets” star was caught on video puffing on a vape pen while waiting to be interviewed on the red carpet.

Coincidentally, days before the highly anticipated event, Wintour said on “CBS Mornings” that the “best way to never be invited back” to the gala was by smoking.

Despite breaking the rule, Doja Cat was invited back to the 2024 event.
