Rebel Wilson Calls Out Charlotte MacInnes, Claims Actress Changed Story to Get New Job from 'The Deb' Producer

Rebel Wilson is calling out rising star Charlotte MacInnes, who is the leading actress of Rebel‘s directorial debut movie The Deb.

If you didn’t know, Rebel has been in a bitter lawsuit with the producers of The Deb after she accused them of misconduct and embezzlement. They responded by filing a defamation lawsuit against her.

Rebel also accused the producers of “inappropriate behavior” toward an actress in the movie and it was just revealed that Charlotte was at the center of those claims.

Charlotte spoke out to deny that there was any inappropriate behavior and now Rebel is calling her out, claiming that the actress retracted her accusations to get a new job from the producer.

In a statement to Daily Mail, Charlotte said, “There is no truth to the allegations made involving me. I made a statement to the film team when this was first said in September 2023 and am saying this now to draw a line under it. Making false accusations undermines real victims and I won’t be the subject of a fabricated narrative.”

After working with producer Amanda Ghost on The Deb, Charlotte was cast by the same producer as Daisy in the musical Gatsby: An American Myth in the show’s pre-Broadway run at Boston’s A.R.T. The musical, written by Florence Welch, is expected to be a big hit in the future when it goes to Broadway.

Rebel shared a screencap of the Daily Mail article on her Instagram Stories and then called out Charlotte in her own statement.

“When an actress on her first feature film is asked by a producer to stay in the same apartment as them, and then makes a complaint to me as the director saying said producer ‘asked her to have a bath and shower with her and it made her feel uncomfortable’ – what am I supposed to do? Of course I reported it. There is no world where this is acceptable,” Rebel said in her statement.

She continued, “The fact that this girl has been employed now by this ‘producer’ in the lead role of a production called GATSBY (ART Boston) and given a record label – should be all the proof you need as to why she has now changed her story.”
