John Brooks will take charge of Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The appointment has been announced three days before the game and it means England’s biggest rivalry will be officiated by the vastly experienced Brooks this weekend, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Brooks has been referee for three United fixtures so far this season, including the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in January. However, he has officiated in a total of six Unired matches throughout his career – five of which we recorded as wins.

On Sunday, Brooks will be assisted by Lee Betts and Timothy Wood.

Anthony Taylor will be fourth official and Tim Robinson will be in charge of VAR, supported by Chris Kavanagh.

If the game does swing one way because of a controversial decision, which is not something we should be considering before any game, I bloody hope it swings in our direction! Knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup would be a glorious feat.
