Regal Cineworld Group has appointed Adam Rymer to the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer – US.
Rymer has 20-plus years working in the technology, media, and entertainment sectors. He’ll lead the strategy and execution of food and beverage, box office, pricing, sales, loyalty and marketing for Regal to drive revenue growth, enhance customer acquisition and optimize profitability across the circuit. Key to exhibition’s boom coming out of Covid and the strikes is harnessing loyalty programs to increase lifetime moviegoer value, as well as capitalizing upon innovative partnerships and digital engagement. Rymer will also oversee the company’s US film and content team. The new Chief Commercial Officer will report to Regal Cineworld Group CEO, Eduardo Acuna.
Rymer joins Regal from Reason Advisory, where he served as President, working on the future of consumer behavior, evolving business models, and technology adoption with companies across digital, film, television, gaming, music and livestreaming. Rymer had a long tenure as the President of Legendary Entertainment’s Digital Networks, as SVP of Digital Platforms at Universal Pictures, and also as COO and CFO of Lava Bear Films. Rymer also recently served as CEO of OpTic Gaming. Early in his career he worked in strategic planning and business development at Universal Music Group.
“Adam’s career to-date offers a rare blend of experience both within our industry and in adjacent industries that can lend something new to our business,” said Acuna in a statement. “He’s bringing a different perspective to the company, one that will pair incredibly well with that of our leaders who have built Regal to this point. Together, Adam and our existing teams will not just extend our track record of recent success, but will build on it to break new ground for our company and its performance in the years ahead.”
Under the Regal, Cineworld, Picturehouse, Planet, and Cinema City brands, the company represents the second largest theatrical exhibition business by number of screens with locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania.
