The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the Ondo State governorship election, Festus Ayo Olorunfemi, has voted in the polls.

Naija News reports that Olorunfemi cast his ballot at his polling unit in Unit 8, Ward 5, Ajowa-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Friday included his name in the governorship election following an appeal court verdict that asked for the replacement of Olusola Ebiseni.

Meanwhile, tension gripped Ofosun Village, a community at the Ondo-Edo State boundary, on Saturday as gunshots rang out, reportedly fired by unknown persons.

The incident caused widespread panic in the area, with residents opting to remain indoors to avoid stray bullets.

A source in the village, identified simply as Dauda, who spoke Punch on the phone said, “We don’t know who they are but they were firing gunshots into the air in some parts of the village since early morning. Ofosun is an Ondo village close to Benin in Edo State. No casualty, but people in the village are staying indoors.”

It was not immediately clear what could have led to the incident, but the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Festus Akingbaso, while commending voters’ turnout, expressed concerns over the alleged infiltration of some villages under the Idanre Local Government Area by hoodlums.
