Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the 2024/25 La Liga season on Saturday night as they lost 4-2 away at CA Osasuna.

Hansi Flick opted to make wholesale rotations to the starting lineup – a decision that may have ended up costing the Blaugrana on the night.

One of the rotations saw young defender Sergi Dominguez get the nod in central defence alongside Pau Cubarsi, with Inigo Martinez getting a rest.

But the La Masia youngster ended up having a game to forget, as he failed to keep things tight and even ended up conceding a penalty in the second half, at a time when Barça appeared to be fighting their way back into the game.

No injury

Following his substitution, reports emerged claiming that the 19-year-old centre-back was dealing with a muscle overload in his right leg, raising some concerns, especially given how Barcelona are already dealing with multiple absentees due to injury.

However, Barça can breathe a sigh of relief as Mundo Deportivo reports that Dominguez trained normally with the rest of the group today, showing no signs of any apparent injury or discomfort.

Indeed, the 19-year-old centre-half did the recovery work a day after the Osasuna defeat with the rest of his teammates without any problems, suggesting that there is no injury.

Even though the youngster endured a difficult outing last night, he has shown enough signs of potential in the appearances he has made thus far.

With Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen unavailable for an extended period and Flick using Eric Garcia in midfield, Dominguez will be relied upon by the manager in the coming weeks.
