As Barcelona continued their preparations for the La Liga clash against Las Palmas on Saturday night, they were handed an injury scare during the training session.

First-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen went down on the pitch due to a blow to his knee, which sent alarm bells ringing at the Ciutat Esportiva a day before the Canary Islanders’ visit to Montjuic.

Ter Stegen was spotted undergoing examination by the medical staff on the pitch which raised concerns among those present at the training session.

Ter Stegen trained normally

However, despite the injury scare, there is nothing to worry about as Gerard Romero reports that Ter Stegen is training normally and completing the session as per usual.

Ter Stegen has already missed close to three months of action this season due to a back problem that required surgery.

That period coincided with the Blaugrana’s poor run defensively as they leaked goals with Inaki Pena in goal, even though the young goalkeeper was not the only one to blame.

But Ter Stegen’s return has brought about a sense of assuredness at the back for Barcelona and any potential injury would have been disastrous at this moment.

Thankfully, that was not the case and Xavi & co. can breathe a sigh of relief as the German international is training normally after the scare.

Andreas Christensen out

While Ter Stegen’s injury scare was nothing to worry about, Barcelona are likely set to be without Andreas Christensen against Las Palmas.

The Dane is yet to fully recover from the Achilles tendon discomfort he suffered before the Atletico Madrid clash and Barça do not wish to take any risks with him ahead of the PSG clash next month.

Ronald Araujo did train with the group though which is a positive, although there is a possibility that Xavi might rest him.
