Stade Rennais announced a new official signing this Friday.
Although the transfer window closed its doors two weeks ago, the elite clubs continue to plan for the future. Rennes Stadium has announced the contract extension of one of its rising stars, Lorenz Assignon. The defender has signed a new contract for the next 4 seasons, until 2028.
” Having arrived at the SRFC Academy in 2015, Lorenz Assignon discovered the professional world six years later, at the age of 21, during the European Cup, and the trip to Rosenborg in UEFA Conference League qualification on August 26, 2021 (1-3 victory)“, we can read in an official press release from Stade Rennais.
“I grew up with Stade Rennais”
” A season ago with SC Bastia, on loan, the right-back participated in 13 National Championship matches, continues the Breton club. The one who learned in the footsteps of Hamari Traoré has a total of 67 matches with his training club (3 goals, 6 assists). During the second half of the 2023/2024 season, Lorenz went to gain a little more experience across the Channel, in the Premier League, with Burnley FC and a record of 15 matches, 1 goal and 2 assists. »
For his part, the defender did not hide his enthusiasm.I am delighted to stay in Rennes, where it all began. We hear a lot of noise during a transfer window but the reality is there, I am re-enlisting with the Stade Rennais family. I am growing with the club, there is a new project, new players, I am very happy to be part of it. I came back stronger and more ambitious after six months in the Premier League, I learned a lot. The objective is to return to Europe as quickly as possible“.
