Renowned South African actress, Connie Chiume has reportedly died at age 72, TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports

According to Chiume’s family in a statement, the award-winning actress died on August 6, 2024, at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg.

They requested privacy as they mourn the huge loss.

The statement reads, “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume. Connie Chiume, 72, passed on at Garden City Hospital today on August 6, 2024. The family will communicate further details and ask for privacy during this difficult period.”

Reacting, Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, via her Instagram page, mourned Connie’s demise. She wrote, “NO! Rest in peace Mum Connie. You were deeply loved & appreciated. My condolences to South Africa; they have lost a beautiful soul. Sleep well, my friend!”

The late actress’s career spanned several decades, during which she became a household name through her roles in popular TV shows such as Mohlolohadi, Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Rhythm City, Housekeepers, and Grassroots.

She also made a mark internationally with her role in the Marvel film Black Panther and its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and her recent work includes a notable performance in the hit series ‘Gomora’.
