A new report provides an update on the negotiations between All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros. Discovery amid rumors of a new deal.
AEW’s media rights deal is coming up this year, and the negotiations loom large on the company’s future. They have been with Warner Bros. Discovery, formerly WarnerMedia, since the company launched in 2019. Throughout their existence, the promotion has added Rampage and Collision to the programming lineup.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported an update after rumors of a deal being imminent, if not agreed to, started making the rounds. Sapp write that a deal is expected, but it is not done yet.
Per sources, nothing is imminent at the moment, and nothing is expected to be announced right away. Sapp wrote that the framework of a new idea has not been agreed to, but the two sides expect to reach a new deal.
The report states that AEW’s Tony Khan and WBD’s David Zaslav are both set to be in Paris for the Olympics, and they plan to meet. It was emphasized that the meeting was not a guarantee that a new deal would be reached, though they were expected to discuss it.
Additionally, Sapp cited sources who said that an offer had likely been made. However, nothing had been agreed to yet. Sapp previously reported that WBD made an offer months ago, but negotiations continued.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
