According to a recent report by Jordi Gil in SPORT, Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan trained alone today.

It must be noted that Gundogan did not travel with the team to Valencia due to an eyebrow injury, which caused him persistent headaches and dizziness. As a result, his return to full training will be gradual to avoid aggravating the injury.

There is also uncertainty surrounding Gundogan’s future at Barcelona. Discussions with Hansi Flick about a potential move have added to the speculation, although he is aiming to be fit and available for the match against Athletic Club on Saturday.

Too much noise surrounding Gundogan

Rumours have surfaced recently suggesting that Gundogan wants to leave Barcelona. Despite this, his inner circle, as well as Flick, have not confirmed any such intention.

In fact, Gundogan’s agent has stated that he plans to remain with Barcelona. These comments came after speculation arose when he took advantage of a break granted by Flick to travel to Istanbul.

Some media outlets speculated that he was considering offers from Turkish clubs, but the truth is he travelled to Turkey to film commercials.

Gundogan is not someone who would be easily misled or confused by such speculation. He is aware that Barcelona may be inadvertently promoting the idea of his departure, even though he wants to stay.

Too much miscommunication happening

Gundogan’s representatives are not aware of any discussions with Flick about requesting a transfer. Although he has spoken with the coach about the team’s future, it is clear that he values his role within the squad.

He is a significant leader in the dressing room and enjoys being part of a team with many young players, including Lamine Yamal, whom he supports like a family member.

At present, Barcelona are keeping a low profile on this matter. The club is expected to seek financial compensation if Gundogan were to leave, in addition to saving on his substantial salary.

While Gundogan is an important player, the team has enough depth to cover his role, especially with the recent addition of Dani Olmo.
