Becky Lynch has entered free agency, as her WWE contract has expired, according to a new report.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Becky Lynch’s WWE contract has expired, and she is now a free agent. This comes after Lynch previously re-signed with WWE in 2021. Per Sapp, WWE seemingly knew that Lynch would be looking to take time off, even after she won the WWE Women’s World Championship. However, it was felt that the story would be better with her winning the title.
Sapp cited sources who claimed that no agreement or deal was reached prior to the expiration. However, WWE had indicated their interest in continuing to work with Lynch. Per Sapp, WWE and sources close to Lynch do not expect her to go elsewhere, but she will likely get major offers. Lynch is widely expected to get the largest contract for a female wrestler in the history of the business.
The report reiterates that Lynch had communicated her intent to take time off, and she has been said to be “class” to deal with.
Lynch wrapped up with WWE following the May 27 episode of WWE RAW. There, Liv Morgan beat her to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship.
Following her loss to Morgan on WWE RAW, Lynch tweeted, To be continued”, with a picture of her walking away.
Lynch is a former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion, among other accolades. She made history by headlining WWE WrestleMania 35. Lynch had been with WWE since 2013.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
