Cash Wheeler is reportedly facing charges.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion was previously arrested in Orange County, Florida, in August 2023 following what was described as a “road rage” incident where he flashed a gun at another vehicle in late July. The warrant was filed on July 28 and Wheeler turned himself in on August 17.

In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that prosecutors in Orange County are moving forward with pursuing criminal charges against Wheeler. While there hasn’t been much movement on the case since Wheeler’s arraignment in August, he did file a plea of not guilty via his attorney with the circuit court to the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm and also stated that he did not know the other party involved.

Johnson noted that under Florida law, a conviction for aggravated assault with a firearm could lead to up to five years imprisonment, five years probation, and a $5,000 fine. A hearing is slated for February 20.

AEW responded to the request for comment in August and stated, “AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities.”

Wheeler was still able to perform at AEW All In London in late August after speculation that FTR’s match against The Young Bucks would be pulled. Wheeler has also remained active on AEW television ever since.

WrestleZone will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
