Liverpool have been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe in recent years.
According to a report from L’Equipe, the 25-year-old French international reached a verbal agreement to join Liverpool back in 2022.
The report states that Liverpool submitted a €200 million offer to Paris Saint Germain after securing an agreement with the player over personal terms.
Antero Henrique who was the PSG sporting director at the time asked the Premier League giants to return with double the amount in order to get the deal done.
While agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club, Mbappe convinced Liverpool to let him join Real Madrid in the future as well. The French international eventually went on to sign a long-term contract with Real Madrid upon the expiry of his PSG contract.

Mbappe would have transformed Liverpool
The 2018 World Cup winner is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world and he would have been exceptional acquisition for Liverpool. The Reds could certainly use a dynamic forward like him who is capable of slotting anywhere across the front three. He would have added goals and creativity to the side. In addition to that, he is a bonafide match-winner who could have made a big difference for Liverpool in the big games.
The Reds won the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League title under previous manager Jurgen Klopp and the arrival of Mbappe would have improved them further. One can only wonder whether the Reds could have won more major trophies with Mbappe in the side.
The 25-year-old will now look to make his mark in Spanish football with Real Madrid and it remains to be seen whether he can help them win multiple league titles and Champions League trophies during his time at the club.
