A new report provides more details on ‘Mr. McMahon’, the upcoming Netflix docuseries about the former WWE chairman.
Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling reports that, per a source who had early access to the six-episode series, the show notes that most of the interviews took place before Vince McMahon initially resigned from WWE in 2022, which would mean it came before Janel Grant’s lawsuit.
Wall Street Journal reporters Joe Palazzolo and Ted Mann, who broke the news about Vince McMahon’s alleged sexual misconduct, speak in the first episode and in the final chapter as well.
The series is said to be a “linear history” of McMahon’s life and career, including the wise of the WWF. Hulkamania, WrestleMania, and the scandals WWF faced in the 1990s are also covered, including the steroid trial and the “ring boy” scandals, as well as sexual harassment allegations and Rita Chatterton”s accusation that Vince McMahon raped her.
More Details About ‘Mr. McMahon’
Per Thurston, after that initial coverage in the first few minutes of the first episode, the docuseries moves into a largely linear history of McMahon’s life and career, with the rest of the first episode focusing on his childhood, his early days in the World Wide Wrestling Federation, and eventually, his purchase of the company from his father, Vincent J. McMahon.
Several of the episodes cover Grant’s lawsuit; Wall Street Journal reporter Khadeeja Safdar, who broke the story, is interviewed, as is Bruce Prichard and Dave Meltzer. As previously reported, Grant was not interviewed.
Thurston also writes that interviews with various noteworthy names in the wrestling world are shown in the series. He writes that the confirmed names are “Hulk Hogan, Shane McMahon, Linda McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Paul Levesque, Paul Heyman, Bret Hart, Cody Rhodes, the Undertaker, Wendy Richter, Eric Bischoff, Steve Austin, Dwayne Johnson, and John Cena.”
‘Mr. McMahon’ premieres on Netflix on September 25.
