The clock is ticking as far as WWE’s time to negotiate with Drew McIntyre is concerned.
As previously reported, former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract was set to expire following WrestleMania 40. There is still some time on the deal. However, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that it is set to expire in the “5-6 week range”, according to one source in the company. Johnson writes that WWE and McIntyre have yet to come to terms on a new contract.
If the two sides fail to reach a deal, Drew McIntyre would hit the open market by late May or early June. Johnson cites another source who noted that McIntyre and WWE have been in talks for weeks. That being said, they have not reached an agreement.
At WrestleMania 40, Drew McIntyre won the World Heavyweight Championship. He immediately lost it when Damian Priest cashed in his money in the bank contract on him.
Update On Talent Relations, Becky Lynch
WWE has recently made changes to the talent relations department. Johnson reports that the move to bring Chris Legentil and Matthew Altman into it was an effort to bolster the signing process. Johnson notes that Legentil and Altman have built relationships with talent in the past.
Additionally, the report notes that WWE is making it a point to make sure that they get a deal done with Becky Lynch. Lynch has confirmed that she is in the final two months of her deal. Ahead of WrestleMania 40, Lynch said that WWE had not reached out to her to negotiate yet.
WrestleZone will provide more information on Drew McIntyre’s status and that of Becky Lynch as it becomes available.
