Liverpool fans are still waiting for their first summer signing but that could change soon.

The Reds were close to completing a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi but he rejected a move to Anfield at the last minute.

Despite being happy with his squad, new manager Arne Slot would be hoping to bring new additions to the club as he enters a transition period after replacing Jurgen Klopp over the summer.

Liverpool were off to a perfect start to their Premier League season after a 2-0 win over newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah, Slot’s era at the club started in fine fashion.

The club is now focusing on their transfer business and they are considering a late move for a player who has history with arch rivals Everton.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool are considering an unexpected move to sign Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman.

The 26-year-old Nigerian winger was on the books of Everton from 2017 to 2019.

He failed to impress at Goodison Park and sealed a move to the Bundesliga to join RB Leipzig in 2019.

Ademola Lookman to Liverpool?

In the summer of 2022, he joined Italian club Atalanta, where he has played the best football of his career and impressed a number of clubs with his performances.

Liverpool are one of the clubs keeping an eye on the player and they are ready to bring him to Anfield to bolster Slot’s attacking options.

The winger missed Atalanta’s first match of the season because he was made to sit out due to the uncertain nature of his future, which is mostly related to Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in him.

Liverpool and PSG are interested in signing Ademola Lookman

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have all kept their eyes on the Nigerian winger but it is Liverpool who hold a serious interest in the player, as per the report.

The player scored 17 goals last season for the Italian club in all competitions, helping them win the Europa League by scoring a hat-trick in the final against Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.

Calciomercato have reported that the Italian club is expected to demand €60m (£51m) for the former Everton player.

The player would add depth and quality to the Liverpool attack and the fee mentioned above should not be an issue for the Reds.

Having made no signings this summer, they are well equipped financially to afford the Serie A star.
