The Motor City Machine Guns are reportedly leaving TNA, at least for the time being.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that the TNA roster held a send-off backstage for Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin backstage at the television tapings on March 23, as the duo is set to enter free agency on April 1.

Sabin and Shelley worked the Philadelphia tapings on Saturday, and Johnson notes that it was their last planned appearance for the promotion. Per Johnson, TNA sources have indicated that the Machine Guns are done with the company “for now”, and their potential return depends on whether they sign elsewhere and/or wish to come back.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) confirmed Johnson’s report about the send-off and the duo’s contracts expiring. Per Sapp, Sabin and Shelley are expected to have multiple suitors on the open market, and they are not expected back in TNA, though the door has been left open.

There were some farewells said backstage at the TNA tapings tonight for Sabin and Shelley. Anything can happen but as of now they're free agents in about a week

Sabin and Shelley are both former world champions in TNA. They have held the tag team titles three times, and Sabin is a ten-time X-Division Champion.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
