A recent report has uncovered the reason for “Switchblade” Jay White’s exclusion from the upcoming Owen Hart Cup Tournament.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), White was legitimately injured ahead of Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. White was attacked by the Death Riders in the show and subsequently “hurt.” But, Sapp notes that story was created to explain White’s injury.
It’s unclear exactly how serious the injury is, but Sapp’s report says he’s expected to undergo surgery for it.
Also unclear is what the injury is, but it’s safe to assume Jay White will be out of action for a bit. Fightful’s report mentions this development has caused “significant creative changes” when it comes to the Men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.
The Men’s side of the bracket will feature several high-profile stars all going up against one another. The full six competitors were revealed on AEW Dynamite, and include Will Ospreay, Kevin Knight, Brody King, Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe, Kyle Fletcher, Adam Page, and a Wild Card.
